Everyone has a special teacher that they remember from their days in school. The kind of teacher I'm talking about is the teacher that would stay after school to tutor you, and go over any gaps with you. Not only that, but a special kind of teacher that would always encourage you and push you to succeed. I'm sure everyone has one of those special teachers that they would like to go back and thank for everything they did. My special teacher was named Mr. Walker, and he made an incredible difference in my life. If it wasn't for him, I would not be where I currently am today. I am not in this profession to be just a teacher, I am in this profession to be that special teacher. While I have only been teaching for five years, I am dedicated to being the absolute best teacher I can be for my students. At my school, I have volunteered to oversee the transition of our curriculum to Common Core Standards in order to make sure we build the new curriculum off of what we are already doing. If students are in danger of not graduating, I will do everything in my power to find and address whatever gaps they have in order to help them succeed. Every day, I strive to be that special teacher. I look forward to working with my students and being that teacher for them.
